Hermes Jypsiere

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

The Hermes Kelly is an iconic bag, but with its structured shape and usual smaller sizes, it lends a very dressy vibe to your outfits. When Hermes sent out the Jypsiere for their Fall 2008 collection, everyone who had been wanting a more casual everyday Kelly were enthused. The Hermes Jypsiere reinterpreted the Hermes Kelly by changing it into a messenger bag that will sit at the hip. The slightly rounded bottom and adjustable shoulder strap reinvented the Kelly in a way most people did not expect.

But the change was welcomed by many, especially me. There is something so elegant about a classically chic messenger style bag. All of the details that Hermes is known for show on this bag, but the overall appeal changes drastically. The Jypsiere is not just an uptown-ladies-who-lunch-bag, it is a much more usable everyday bag.

I keep leaning toward messenger bags lately and last time I was in the Hermes Bal Harbour store I was checking this bag out. Hermes online has started picking up and selling more leather goods, which is actually an unexpected surprise. And that is where you can buy the Jypsiere yourself. There are six colors of the smaller size on Hermes and two of the larger. I love this bag in classic Orange or gold. Buy through Hermes online for $7,600 or $8,100.

What do you think about the Jypsiere: Great reinterpretation or don’t fix what isn’t broken?

Designer Jucca copies Foley + Corinna’s classic Jet Setter Purse

Designer Jucca copies Foley + Corinna's classic Jet Setter
Oh yes I did.

While surfing around the pages of online department store YOOX I stumbled upon this bag, pictured to the right, which I originaly mistaken for Foley + Corinna’s classic Jet Setter, but upon clicking the image and further examination, it appears to not be what it seems. That’s always how it is when it comes to an amazing deal. I’ve never seen the Jet Setter on sale, reduced to up to 50% off. Unless it was at a sample sale or something.

There are a couple differences when comparing the two pieces side-by-side. But the main differences that caught my attention, well besides the obvious imprint “Jucca” stamp, is the hardware and also the cut of the bag is a little bit off -  the Jucca seems to more wider than Foley + Corinna’s Jet Setter.

I want to hear you guys though. Tell me what you think. Is the Jucca an obvious copy? Or would you consider it a look-for-less?

The Jucca handbag retails for $330 over at YOOX, while the real deal Foley + Corinna Jet Setter Jr retails for $528 over at shopbop.

Alexander McQueen Long Skull Whipsnake clutch

Alexander McQueen Long Skull Whipsnake clutch
Feast your eyes upon the one and (currently) only, last Alexander McQueen bag standing over at net-a-porter. Ever since the tragic news broke earlier this month about Alexander (real name Lee) McQueen passing, bags by this designer have been flying off store shelves. Who wouldn’t want a piece of what’s left from this brilliant and talented designer? I to am on that boat.

One of the latest and last pieces by Lee is this yellow and black bumble bee striped whipsnake box clutch adorned with the signature McQueen silver-tone skull and crystal-studded knuckle-duster clasp. I know it’s hard to tell from the picture, but the knuckle duster is really quite amazing. Not only is it a fabulous way to carry the clutch, but it gives the impression of chunky bold rings on each finger. Gotta love the signature McQueen skull! I tried to get a close up of the hand jewels from the n-a-p site, but the picture doesn’t do any justice.

Mulberry Fall 2010 Favorite Look

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Mulberry put on their Fall 2010 show in both NYC and London. The color palette was not muted neutrals like many other shows we saw, rather bold jewel toned colors, which was a welcomed change to many other shows we saw. The Mulberry show was playful and youthful, while still retaining a fashionable upper hand.

I was checking all of the photos and came across my favorite look from the show. This look appeals to me in every way possible.

Let’s start off with the color scheme. Purple is one of my favorite colors. Purple is a very flattering color on many people, and always seems to look good against my skin tone and coloring. The scarf has stripes of different hues of purples, almost blues, with large pom poms at the end. Of course there is the bag, which we can not miss. The grainy plum lambskin bag is the Mulberry Small Greta.

I have saved the best for last. Is anyone else extremely excited to see the adorable French Bulldog making his way down the runway, with a purple tonal sweater as well? Can I just say that finished off this look and made me fall in love. Of course I love the look without the bulldog included, but he is more than icing on the cake.

Newly Discounted at YOOX!! Love Dior + Fendi!
Just in! After getting word that YOOX just received a huge new shipment of designer handbags, I had to go and take a peek.. so many gorgeous bags marked up to, 90% off retail. It’s pretty insane. My favorite two picks from the 30+ pages: Dior Signature Quilted Tote and the Fendi Embossed Baguette Purse.

This Christian Dior Signature Quilted Tote has to be one of the best deals on the web for an authentic never worn Dior purse. It’s just insane. The regular price of this tote is in the neighborhood of a thousand and up. This classy classic can be found for only $668.

I can not believe even this gorgeous hot pink Fendi Embossed Baguette is on sale for a little bit over 50% off the retail price of $995. On Yoox, this Baguette retails for $470. Fendi addicts, I wouldn’t wait too long on this one. I’m sure she’s going to be gone by the end of the week, if not today. If the hot pink isn’t your thing, there’s also 1 left in juicy cherry red. My pick: hot pink!

And there’s more where that came from. Check out the new bags to hit the sale section over at YOOX!

Personalize your Louis Vuitton with Mon Monogram

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Louis Vuitton continues to expand their online store and have announced the introduction of the Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram service. The service will allow you to customize your Louis Vuitton bag, ending up with over 200 million possible combinations on your bag of choice. The selection of bags include the iconic Speedy, historic Keepall travel bag, or the Pegase 55 wheeled cabin case.

Once you choose your item you can pick up to three initials and vertical or diagonal stripes. There are 17 color options to choose from. Once you have entered your selection the site will simulate the design for you to see what the finished product will look like.

Another brand known for customizing items like this is Goyard. Having a design house allow you to customize a signature bag from their line will ensure that your bag will stand out compared to others. I love the idea of personalizing a travel bag like the Keepall and Pegase. While I would not check a Louis Vuitton bag under a plane, I would certainly carry it on or take it in the car for weekend trips.

Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton Senior Vice-President comments:

“We are delighted to announce the launch of Mon Monogram on www.louisvuitton.com. For more than 150 years, this company has united tradition and innovation, and there is no better example than this initiative, which brings one of Louis Vuitton’s historic services – personalization – into the digital era. It is another great reason to explore www.louisvuitton.com.”

Accessory finds under $50 (LeSportsac, Botkier, FREECITY, Indah)
With the start of a new decade is anyone seeking to replace some of their beloved everyday accessories for more current and newer styles? I personally am in search of a new cosmetic bag and I know just were to go if I want the luxurious designer piece, but sometimes cheap thrills find their way into your collection, especially when they retail for no more than $50. If you seek you shall find, and I spotted these cute name brand pieces carrying extra affordable price tags.

The first that caught my eye and the most colorful from the batch goes to the laptop sleeve; it’s the Reverie by LeSportsac. The printed floral pattern in delightful colors stands apart from your typical solid colored common sleeves. Price tag for this pretty reads an affordable $38.

Treat your makeup to a leather snake-embossed cosmetic pouch. Brushes and lip-glosses of all lengths will fit just right in this horizontal accessory. The Botkier Bowtie pouch arrives in peacock snake or the desert snake version and retails for $45.

A large bag that’s noticeable, available in five different colors and is priced at only $28 goes to the Life, Nature, Love tote by FREECITY. Ideal for casual canvas days or for the Beach, and for as low as they go, you’ll feel the need to grab some extras to gift.

…and finally, an oversized white (but not so boring) canvas clutch that arrives with extra pockets, zippers, chains and fringe. I like the grey branches print and of course the $50 price tag this Indah clutch carries.

Discover these and more by LeSportsac, Botkier, FREECITY, and Indah by shopping online through: Shopbop
